Man wanted for early morning shooting in Washington

WASHINGTON, N.C. (WITN) – An Eastern Carolina police department says they are looking for a man tied to an early Tuesday morning shooting.

The Washington Police Department says officers are looking for Mykal Coleman.

Detectives have warrants to charge Coleman with two counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill and going armed to the terror of the public.

Police say the 27-year-old Washington man has been linked to a shots fired call officers got around 1:20 a.m. this morning in the 300 block of West 9th Street.

Investigators say the shooting stemmed from an ongoing dispute between Coleman and others. They say the victims were not hit by the gunfire and are also not cooperating with their investigation.

Officials say Coleman stands around 6-foot-3 and weighs about 155 pounds.

Anyone with information about Coleman or his whereabouts is asked to call the Washington Police Department at 252-946-1444 or Beaufort County Crime Stoppers at or 252-974-6400.

This is the second shooting reported on West 9th Street in four days.

The other shooting happened early Saturday morning and Washington police say they are looking for the driver of a car leaving the area.

Police don’t believe the two shootings are connected.
