Man pleads gulity for 2022 Kinston murder

KINSTON, N.C. (WITN) – The Kinston Police Department says a man has pleaded guilty to the murder of a man in 2022.

Kinston police say on Wednesday, Taquan Darden pled guilty to the murder of Nathaniel Crawford.

Officers say they found Crawford suffering from serval gunshot wounds at the intersection of Nobles Lane and Stadium Drive on November 27, 2022, around 4:40 p.m.

Despite life-saving aid, Crawford died on his way to ECU Health Medical Center, according to police.

Darden was arrested in Jones County, Georgia at 18 years old for Crawford’s murder in late November 2022.

Dardon has been sentenced to 20 to 25 years in jail for the murder charge, plus another five to seven years after for a separate sentencing stemming from a robbery case that happened in Lenoir County.
