EDGECOMBE COUNTY, NC (WITN) – A Virginia Beach man is in an Eastern Carolina jail after a high-speed police chase in several counties Sunday night.
The Highway Patrol said it began on U.S. 64 in Edgecombe County when a trooper clocked a car going 112 miles per hour outside of Rocky Mount.
The chase continued onto U.S. 258 through Scotland Neck and into Northampton County where the car crashed at Lincoln Park Road outside of Rich Square.
Troopers said Davonn Doggett then ran from the crashed car but was quickly caught.
The 31-year-old was charged with felony flee to elude arrest, fail to heed lights and siren, speeding 112 mph in a 70 mph zone, reckless driving, resist, obstruct and delay, stop sign violation, and improper passing.
Doggett was jailed on a $25,000 secured bond.
The Highway Patrol said no one was hurt in the case and there was no damage to any of their vehicles.
