NEW BERN, N.C. (WITN) – Police are investigating after a man was shot Friday night.

New Bern police say that officers were checking out a report of a gunshot victim in the area of 2709 Neuse Boulevard.

Officers say they found Peter Montalvo, 39, suffering from a gunshot wound.

Montalvo was taken to CarolinaEast Medical Center and then ECU Health Medical Center.

Investigators believe that this was a targeted shooting and not a random crime.
