Man facing arson charge in fire that destroyed Carteret County warehouse

Deputies said the loss is worth hundreds of thousands of dollars.

CARTERET COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) – A man is facing charges after deputies said he burned down an Eastern Carolina warehouse last week.

The Carteret County Sheriff’s Office said that Christopher Lambert, 46, of Beaufort, started a fire at a personal storage warehouse on Boyd Lane outside of Morehead City on February 2nd.

We’re told the warehouse is a total loss and inside were several business materials and products including construction materials, industrial cooking equipment, and lumber.

Deputies said the loss is worth hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Lambert is charged with felony burning certain buildings-arson.

He’s being held in the Carteret County Detention Center under a $35,000 secured bond.

The investigation was in cooperation with the Morehead City Fire Department, deputies said.
