Man charged in November Kinston shooting

KINSTON, N.C. (WITN) – Police in Kinston say ballistic tests helped them make an arrest in a shooting that happened back in November.

This morning police charged Michael Lindsey with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, malicious assault in secret, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and discharging a firearm in the city.

The shooting happened around 7:00 p.m. on November 27th in the 300 block of East Bright Street. Michael Williams, Jr. was found inside a nearby store with one non-life-threatening gunshot wound.

Police say earlier this month, they received information that the 26-year-old Lindsey was a suspect. On April 2nd, police searched the man’s home and found a gun that matched the description of the one used in the November shooting.

Ballistic tests from the gun matched evidence found at the shooting scene, and police were able to get warrants against Lindsey for the shooting.
