Man charged in downtown Rocky Mount shooting

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. (WITN) – A man is facing multiple charges after being arrested for a shooting last week in downtown Rocky Mount.

Bobby Lawson was charged with two counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, possession of a firearm by felon, discharging a firearm in city limits, and robbery with a dangerous weapon.

Police say two people were shot at on Thursday on Albemarle Avenue in a parking lot between the Rocky Mount Event Center and the Douglas Block.

After a search at a home on Park Avenue, detectives say they recovered evidence from the shooting as well as an unsolved armed robbery at the 252 Smoke Shop back on April 13th.

The 25-year-old Lawson was jailed without bond.
