Man arrested in Kinston Dollar General robbery

KINSTON, N.C. (WITN) – Kinston police say a man has been arrested for the robbery of a Dollar General on Tuesday.

The Kinston Police Department says 44-year-old Norris Bell, has been charged with armed robbery, as well as an attempted robbery and three counts of first-degree kidnapping that occurred in the parking lot of 701 Plaza Boulevard.

Police say Bell was also wanted by the North Carolina Department of Adult Corrections at the time of his arrest.

WITN reported Wednesday that the Dollar General on Plaza Boulevard near Queen Street was held up around 8:50 p.m. Tuesday. Police said the armed man, Bell, passed a note to the cashier.

Bell has been jailed under no bond.
