Lenoir County officials leave cause of weekend home fire undetermined

LENOIR COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) – Authorities say a massive fire at a home in Lenoir County on Saturday evening has been ruled undetermined due to the extensive damage the fire caused.

Public Information Officer Bryan Hanks says that the fire was at a two-story home on Joe Nunn Road south of Kinston.

Hanks says the blaze was brought under control around 10:30 pm and that crews remained on the scene until 5:00 am the next morning mopping up hotspots.

Ten fire departments helped with efforts to put out the flames.

Hanks says that the family was not home when the fire started and that there are no injuries at this time.

The home has been declared a total loss.
