Lenoir Co. man now facing murder charge in death of three-year-old son

LENOIR COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) – A Lenoir County man is now charged with murder after his three-year-old son died and two others were taken to the hospital last summer.

Chason Walker was indicted last Wednesday for first-degree murder. An obituary says Rylend Andrade died on July 3rd and that Walker was his father.

The 29-year-old was originally charged with three counts of felony negligent child abuse and/or neglect, and deputies say during their investigation they found criminal conduct had occurred with the death of the child.

Back on July 3rd, first responders got a medical call to the 700 block of Garland Avenue outside Kinston.

They found three preschool-age children. One of them died, despite efforts by first responders to save them.

The two other children were taken from the home to UNC Lenoir Health Care to be treated. The obituary says the child was survived by his twin brother and a younger brother.

Walker turned himself in on the murder charge Saturday and he’s being held without bond.
