Kinston police arrest man who didn’t report to prison

KINSTON, N.C. (WITN) – A man who was supposed to report to state prison was found hiding out in a Kinston home, according to police.

Kinston police said they were tipped off by Greenville police that Sherrod Jones, Jr. was in a home on West Washington Avenue.

Jones had recently been released from federal prison and authorities say he was supposed to start serving a three to four year sentence in state prison for trafficking heroin and fentanyl.

Police said Jones never turned himself in.

The 32-year-old Jones was arrested Monday by police as he left the home.
