Kinston men facing attempted murder, going armed to terror of public charges

KINSTON, N.C. (WITN) – Two Kinston men are behind bars, facing multiple charges in a shooting last month that involved seven victims.

Jamarion Vaughn, 19, has been arrested for four counts of attempted murder, while Jahquan Courtney, 24, is charged with going armed to the terror of the public and discharging a firearm in the city.

Police say back on March 4th, officers were called to the 900 block of East King Street for a shooting. The seven young people told police they were walking and were approached by a group of young men who started a fight.

Officers say Courtney pulled out a gun and fired a shot in the air. Courtney then passed the gun to Vaughan who fired a shot at the group of victims before running from the area.

Police say originally information on the gunmen was limited, but as their investigation continued, detectives were able to identify the two with warrants obtained for Courtney and Vaughn.
