Kinston man charged after police investigate “mechanophilia” activity

KINSTON, N.C. (WITN) – A Kinston man is behind bars after police say they investigated activity related to mechanophilia and a vehicle.

The Kinston Police Department says a man was caught on camera Sunday tampering with the victim’s vehicle parked on Adkin Street.

He was identified as Walter McCray and warrants for his arrest were obtained.

Monday, investigators found the 52-year-old man and made the arrest.

McCray has been charged with one count of felony stalking, 5 counts of damage to property and 5 counts of injury-tamper with a vehicle. He’s being held in the Lenoir County Jail.

Mechanophilia is defined as sexual attraction to machines or vehicles.
