NEW BERN, N.C. (WITN) – A woman in the east was arrested for drug trafficking during a traffic stop.
Last Friday, the Craven County Sheriff’s Office says deputies stopped a vehicle on 1st Street and Walt Bellamy Drive in New Bern.
Authorities say the driver was identified as 45-year-old Tyrabia Parker, of New Bern.
During the stop, K9 Tia was used to conduct an open-air sniff of the vehicle and alerted to the odor of narcotics. During a search of the vehicle, investigators say they found several items of drug paraphernalia, just over an ounce of cocaine, a handgun, and $2,845 in currency.
Parker was arrested and charged with trafficking cocaine by possession, trafficking cocaine by transportation, possession with the intent to manufacture, sell and deliver schedule II controlled substance, felony maintaining a vehicle/dwelling for controlled substances, possession of a firearm by felon, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Parker was taken to the Craven County Detention Center and brought before a magistrate. She was given a $250,000 secured bond and scheduled for her first appearance on August 5th at the Craven County Courthouse at 9:00 a.m.
