K-9 unit finds breaking & entering suspect in Beaufort County rental property

BEAUFORT COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) – One Eastern Carolina sheriff’s office says a K-9 helped deputies find a hiding breaking and entering suspect.

Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office says deputies were called to a rental property on Asbury Trails for a possible breaking and entering Thursday.

The property owner told authorities he thought someone was inside the building that was supposed to be empty.

The sheriff’s office says K-9 Athos found Josue Martinez-Diaz hiding in the rental.

He’s been charged with misdemeanor breaking and entering.

The 35-year-old man is being held under a $500.00 secured bond in the Beaufort County Detention Center.
