K-9 search leads to drug arrests in Beaufort County

BEAUFORT COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) – One sheriff’s office says a K-9 officer’s search during a traffic stop helped lead to two drug arrests.

The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office says deputies, with the help of K-9 Athos, arrested Benjamin Bohrer and Ashley Jones on multiple drug charges on June 12.

Deputies were performing a traffic stop on Bohrer’s vehicle when K-9 Athos smelled illegal an narcotic, according to the sheriff’s office.

After a probable cause search, deputies say they found 4 grams of meth and a gram of heroin.

44-year-old Bohrer has been charged with felony possession with intent to sell/deliver methamphetamine, felony possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The Washington man is being held in the Beaufort County Detention Center under no bond.

29-year-old Jones has been charged with felony possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The Chocowinity woman was released on a $5,000.00 unsecured bond.
