Jones honored, North Pitt and South Central girls, Washington County boys claim conference basketball titles

BETHEL, N.C. (WITN) – North Pitt senior Zamareya “Zam” Jones will play in the McDonald’s All-American game in April in Texas. She was honored with her jersey following tonight’s game.

“It means a lot they are supporting me through whatever whether i’m sad, happy days, don’t want to play days, want to play days. We always say North of the river versus everybody,” says Jones, “So, like I said they been sticking with me through bad days, bad days in schools. Just having the community support means a lot. Just go hard every second to put on a show for the 252 and Pitt County.”

Jones and the North Pitt girls claimed their conference title with an 80-37 win over West Craven.

South Central girls also rolled to victory over Jacksonville 63-30 to claim their conference title outright.

Washington County boys won 87-67 at Martin County to clinch their conference title as well.

Congrats to the Swansboro boys who won their conference title 67-62 over White Oak. It’s their first conference title since 1978.
