Jim’s First Alert Forecast: Staying chilly and quiet; Weekend storm update

GREENVILLE, N.C. (WITN) – Thursday will bring calm winds and partly cloudy skies with seasonably highs in the mid 50s. An isolated raindrop may catch the Outer Banks. We’ll stay quiet through Saturday with colder air moving back in late Friday into Saturday.

A storm system is on target to move over Eastern NC on Sunday and Sunday night. We will see primarily rain from this system, however it will probably begin as a brief wintry mix Sunday morning. If we are able to pull out wintry precip in ENC, it will happen early Sunday in a 7am to noon window. The rest of the system will be rain for us. We will also get breezy by Sunday afternoon along the coast with gusts over 20 mph. If the track is farther off the coast, then more of a snow scenario would happen, however this is looking unlikely. Most areas will likely see 1″-2″ of rainfall before the rain exits late Sunday night. Stay in touch with the WITN weather forecasts on this website, the WITN Weather App and on WITN.
