Jamesville under boil water advisory

JAMESVILLE, N.C. (WITN) – Residents of an Eastern Carolina town are being told to boil their tap water before using it.

Jamesville says a damaged water main has caused outages and low water pressure. The town says that increases to potential for bacteria to get into the water system.

Residents are being told to boil water for one minute before using it for drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes, or food preparation. Jamesville says an alternative would be to use bottled water.

Customers are also being urged to conserve water whenever possible.
