GREENVILLE, N.C. (WITN) – County jail records show an Eastern Carolina man is behind bars after assaulting another man.

Pitt County jail records, obtained by WITN, show Michael Smith was put behind bars Monday.

Warrants say the Greenville Police Department arrested him after the 39-year-old caused bruising and swelling to Cardell William’s face.

Smith has a court appearance scheduled for the morning at 9 a.m., according to jail documents.
