Jacksonville’s Hope for the Warriors hosts 17th annual run & block party

JACKSONVILLE, N.C. (WITN) -Hope for the Warriors, a renowned organization dedicated to supporting military families affected by war, is gearing up for its 17th Annual Jacksonville Run for The Warriors event, alongside the inaugural First Mile and Block Party.

Originally scheduled for May, the event is now set to take place on Saturday, June 15, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. outside the Hope for the Warriors office located at 3313 Henderson Dr. in Jacksonville.

This year’s Jacksonville Run for the Warriors introduces the First Mile, a symbolic 1-mile walk or run set to commence at 10:30 a.m.

The inclusion of the First Mile underscores the challenges faced by veterans transitioning to civilian life, aiming to instill spirit and motivation within participants.

The Block Party will have many family-friendly activities, including a bounce house, inflatable slide, lawn games, face painting, live music, and many delectable options from food trucks.

Established in 2006 on Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, Hope for the Warriors has been a beacon of support for military families across the nation.

Event Schedule:

  • 10:15 a.m.: Opening ceremonies
  • 10:30 a.m.: First Mile Walk or run
  • 2 p.m.: Event concludes
