Jacksonville police believe teen death at pool not criminal

The Jacksonville Police Department says it’s still actively investigating the June 1st death of a 15-year-old girl at Holiday City Community Homes pool.

Police Chief Michael Yaniero says that based on the preliminary investigation, this death does not appear to be criminal and that investigators are awaiting autopsy results to confirm the cause of death.

Jacksonville Fire and Emergency Services were called to the neighborhood on Corbin Street around 3:50 p.m. There, officials say they found the victim had been pulled from the pool and bystanders were performing CPR.

The teenage girl was pronounced dead at the scene.

Following the death of the teenager, the management for Holiday City sent a text message out to residents saying they are in need of a seasonal pool attendant, according to multiple residents.
