Jacksonville home heavily damaged in Tuesday night fire

JACKSONVILLE, N.C. (WITN) -An investigation is underway after a fire damaged a home in Jacksonville Tuesday night.

The Jacksonville Fire Department says they got a call around 9:00 p.m. about a residential structure fire at 380 Piney Green Road.

When they got there they say the home was fully engulfed.

Officials say crews deployed handlines and conducted a defensive attack on the fire and had it under control just after 9:30 p.m.

They say no one was inside the home at the time of the fire.

The cause is under investigation.

Crews from Piney Green Road and Pumpkin Center Volunteer Fire Departments assisted.
