PERQUIMANS COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) – Troopers are asking for the public’s help to find a suspect involved in a hit and run overnight.

According to Trooper C. Anderson, two witnesses saw a man walking in the area of West Grubb Street and Don Juan Road in Hertford around 9 p.m. Sunday night.

Monday morning, authorities say 61-year-old Cecil Beasley Jr. was found dead just 100 feet away from that location.

Anderson tells WITN Beasley was heading toward his home off Don Juan Road when he was hit.
