“I thought I was seeing things”: Duplin County man win big lotto prize

RALEIGH, N.C. (WITN) -An Eastern Carolina man says he couldn’t believe his eyes.

“I thought I was seeing things,” says Bernard Phelps after winning a $100,000 scratch-off prize.

The Magnolia man says on Tuesday he stopped for gas at the Tiger Mart on Highway 23 in Warsaw.

Phelps bought a $50 ticket in the $10 Million Spectacular game and the first ticket was a winner.

The man picked up his winnings today in Raleigh and after state and federal tax withholdings, he walked out with $71,514.
