Highway 33 in Beaufort County has reopened after movement of Nutrien heavy mining equipment

AURORA, N.C. (WITN) – A portion of a busy Eastern Carolina highway that was temporarily closed to start the weekend, has now reopened.

According to the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office, NC Highway 33 near Nutrien in Aurora is now open to traffic.

The NCDOT had closed the highway near N.C. 306 in Beaufort County so that Nutrien crews could relocate heavy mining equipment across N.C. 33.

That work has finished up.

A previous version of this story shared the incorrect nature of the work that resulted in the closure, the length, and the county.
