Highway 12 reopens after being closed on OBX due to overwash

DARE COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) – Highway 12 on the Outer Banks has been reopened as of 1:44 p.m. Tuesday.

The highway was closed in both directions due to flooding caused by Monday’s storms.

Monday’s severe weather caused flooding and power outages along the coast. The Cedar Island-Ocracoke, Swan Quarter-Ocracoke and Hatteras-Ocracoke ferry routes remain canceled.
