Hertford man arrested in truck theft and chase

LENOIR COUNTY, N.C. — A Hertford man is accused of helping steal a truck and trailer from a Lenoir County farm, and then leading police on a chase two counties away.

Lenoir County deputies say early Monday morning, witnesses saw a man steal the truck and trailer from Jonestown Road.

The owner spotted his vehicle in Jones County and called 911.

Richlands police tried to stop the stolen truck and they began a chase. It ended when the truck crashed and the driver ran away.

Deputies say another man involved in the theft was spotted nearby and was eventually arrested.
