Havelock sewage spill ends up in Slocum Creek

Havelock says the latest spill happened this morning from a manhole on East Main Street.

HAVELOCK, N.C. (WITN) – There’s been another sewage spill in Havelock.

The city says the latest spill happened this morning from a manhole on East Main Street. Some 4,500 gallons of sewage made its way into Slocum Creek

Havelock says it happened because of a mechanical failure of a contractor’s bypass pump.

The North Carolina Division of Water Resources is looking into the spill.
