HAVELOCK, N.C. (WITN) – For the second day in a row, one Eastern Carolina city is reporting a sewage spill.
Havelock says their latest spill happened Monday on East Main Street. The city says some 4,500 gallons of sewage spilled out of a manhole and into East Prong Slocum Creek.
Yesterday, Havelock said an estimated 9,000 gallons made its way into Cedar Creek on Sunday when the sewage got into a ditch behind a home on Berkshire Drive.
In both cases, the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality is investigating the spills.
