Havelock Police Department chief to be sworn in tonight

HAVELOCK, N.C. (WITN) – A city in the east will swear in its next police chief Monday night.

Tonight, Michael Broadwell is set to be sworn in as The Havelock Police Department chief.

Broadwell began in law enforcement career in Boone in 2002.

He moved to Greenville in 2004, serving for almost 14 years and obtaining the rank of lieutenant.

In May 2018, Broadwell moved to Washington as a captain, serving as the patrol division commander.

He replaces Chris Morning. Morning retired over the summer after being chief for about a year.

Broadwell was announced as the upcoming police chief for the city in November.

Tonight’s swearing-in will be held at The Havelock Tourist and Event Center at 5:30 p.m.
