GREENVILLE, N.C. (WITN) – A man accused by police here in the east in 2021 of impregnating a 13-year-old girl has been captured in Puerto Rico.

Greenville police say that Deshawn Oliver, 29, of Havelock, was arrested on May 8th in Aguidilla, Puerto Rico by special agents in the FBI San Juan Field Office.

Police said Oliver was charged in 2021 with statutory rape of a minor but tried to avoid arrest. He was eventually found in Glasgow, Kentucky, and extradited back to Pitt County in February of 2022 where he posted a $1-million bond.

In late December 2023, police said they learned he had removed his electronic monitoring device and had taken off again.

Oliver will be extradited to Pitt County to face his original charges, police say.
