Halifax Community College offering evening nursing classes with program expansion

WELDON, N.C. (WITN) -An option for working adults who are interested in pursuing a nursing degree is now available at a college in the east.

Halifax Community College announced the expansion of its practical nursing program with the option to take evening classes. This will allow people working the chance to pursue a nursing degree.

The college says it also increases the number of students the program can serve, going from 18 students to 33.

Students who enroll in this program will be able to use high-fidelity simulation equipment and other state-of-the-art pieces of equipment, says HCC.

The college says this expansion was made possible through a $400,000 through the State Board of Community Colleges Allocation for High-Cost Workforce Start-Up and Expansion fund. They continue to say this in line with the college’s drive to make education an option for all.

“We understand the challenges faced by working adults who aspire to pursue nursing education, and we are dedicated to supporting them every step of the way,” said Dr. Patrena Benton Elliott, president of HCC.
