Greenville Yard Gnomes home opener tonight

GREENVILLE, N.C. (WITN) – The inaugural Greenville Yard Gnomes season is officially underway, and their home opener is this Friday at Guy Smith Stadium.

The inaugural season started Thursday against Tri-City Chili Peppers in Virginia. Unfortunately, the Yard Gnomes fell in a 12-9 loss. However, redemption could be on the horizon tonight as the face again.

Their first manager Jack Schaffer spent the past few summers in the Northwoods League as assistant and is eager to help the Gnomes grow in the Coastal Plain League.

“Super excited got up late last night and got up here early this morning love that the boys are all out here right now,” says Yard Gnomes Head Coach Jack Schaffer Wednesday at the team’s media day. “I know they came from just as far if not farther for some of them so super excited to get underway. Super excited to see what Greenville and the city has to offer.”

The Gnomes are home Friday at 6:30 against Tri-City at Guy Smith Stadium. They are also home Sunday and Monday next week.
