GREENVILLE, N.C. (WITN) – More bad news for those hoping to celebrate the arrival of 2023 in several locations.
Bad weather predicted for New Year’s Eve has forced the emerald not to drop in Greenville and the crab pot will not drop in Morehead City.
Greenville announced Friday morning that Greenville’s New Year’s Eve Celebration at the Town Common has been canceled.
What they called a “tough” decision came after much discussion and monitoring of the weather forecast for Saturday.
Late Friday, Morehead City said it too had made a “tough” decision to cancel all New Year’s Eve events. Those include the fireworks and the youth crab pot drop at Big Rock Landing.
The town said the weather could put citizens, guests, and staff at risk.
On Thursday, Mount Olive canceled its Pickle Drop festivities because of the predicted rain.
