Greenville losing state license plate agency location tomorrow

GREENVILLE, N.C. (WITN) – Greenville will be down to just one place to get new license plates after tomorrow.

The state license plate agency on Statonsburg Road will close at 5:00 p.m. Thursday.

DMV says the Stanton Square Shopping Center location has been operating under a temporary contract since the death of Carol Locks, who had operated the location since 2020.

In a news release, the DMV did not say why the Locks family could not continue to operate the location.

The DMV says the office will reopen under a new contractor sometime in the near future.

In the meantime, those needing vehicle registrations, plate renewals, replacement tags, or title transactions will have to visit the other Greenville location on North Creek Drive or offices in Farmville or Washington.
