The fire broke out around 4:25 p.m. at Westpointe Apartments off Stantonsburg Road.

GREENVILLE, N.C. (WITN) – Firefighters are battling a major apartment fire this afternoon in Greenville.

The fire broke out around 4:25 p.m. at Westpointe Apartments off Stantonsburg Road.

Flames were through the roof of one apartment building that has at least eight apartments. The roof has collapsed.

Three aerial fire trucks are still putting water on fire. The smoke and flames from the fire could be seen from across town.

There was no word on any injuries or how the fire began.
