Greenville doctor’s office abruptly closes, patients left in limbo

GREENVILLE, N.C. (WITN) – Patients of Carolina East Family Medicine in eastern North Carolina are left scrambling for new healthcare options after the sudden closure of the doctor’s office.

A notice on the office doors informs patients that their doctor is on leave, advising those needing immediate care to visit urgent care facilities instead. Frustrated patients like Frankie Pegram express dismay over disrupted medical services.

“I have insomnia. I stay up sometimes. I’m on my fifth day today,” Pegram said.

The closure notice also mentions efforts to find a new healthcare provider, but patients are left feeling stranded without access to necessary medications.

“Some controlled medicines will not be able to be filled until a provider is available,” a note on the office’s website states.

In addition to logistical challenges, tensions have surfaced with inflammatory statements left above the office closure notice, reflecting community dissatisfaction.

Former employees told WITN that they were terminated without prior notice, adding to the upheaval surrounding the clinic’s closure.

Efforts to reach Carolina East Family Medicine for comment on the situation have been unsuccessful.
