Greenville community basketball court reopens

GREENVILLE, N.C. (WITN) – Anyone hoping to shoot some hoops has a fresh court in Greenville.

The reopening of the East Meadowbrook Basketball Court was celebrated Saturday with a ribbon cutting.

Edward Bland, Executive Director of the Housing Authority of the City of Greenville, said he thinks this court has been closed for two years and is excited that it is finally open to the public again.

“We did a nice resurface, you see they have new goals here and provide some recreation for the kids who live in Meadowbrook,” Bland said.

The Housing Authority of the City of Greenville updated this court so children like Ashton Tyson could enjoy playing basketball.

“We are so happy cause this has been closed down for a long time and I’m so glad it’s opening back up,” Tyson shared.

Many children are excited that they can play and practice basketball. Ebony Harris, Resident Commissioner for the housing authority, is glad that this court will bring families together.

“I am hopeful that it will unite everybody not only in this community but Greenville in particular,” Harris said.
