Greenville approves $1.22 million renovation for park

GREENVILLE, N.C. (WITN) – Greenfield Terrace Park is set to receive a $1.22 million upgrade following the approval of a construction contract by the Greenville City Council on Monday night.

Renovations will focus on the Barnes-Ebron-Taft community building, including a nearly 1,000-square-foot addition, floor and ceiling replacements, and acoustic wall treatment.

“Greenfield Terrace Park is probably one of our most popular parks in terms of building rentals,” said Mark Nottingham, Greenville projects and development manager. “These improvements are really going to enhance the space and the overall park.”

Other renovations will include adding more parking spaces, paving the parking lot, installing new playground equipment, and revamping the basketball courts.

“They have some pretty big basketball games over there, and there’s always too many people who want to play,” said neighbor Richard Drew, who supports the upgrades.

Construction is expected to begin at the end of August, after summer camp, and is slated for completion in April 2025.
