Greene Co. home ‘total loss’ after fire Wednesday night

GREENE COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) – A family home is a complete loss according to multiple Eastern Carolina fire departments who were called to a house fire Wednesday night.

“It’s indescribable really. This was my grandma’s home before she passed and a lot of memories here that’s all,” Resident, Jelisa Harper said.

Snow Hill Rural Fire Department Inc. says crews from their department and Maury Fire Rescue responded to help the Hookerton Fire & EMS put out a fire burning a home at 3492 Fourway Road.

The call came in at 9:31 p.m.

WITN is told members of the family told crews one person might still be inside as flames continued to burn the home.

Volunteer members went into the home to find no one trapped. Firefighters say the fire was under control within 8 minutes, but is a total loss.

The Red Cross is working with family.

No one or firefighter was injured.
