Goldsboro woman charged with DWI, death by vehicle after bicyclist killed

WAYNE COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) – A Goldsboro woman is facing multiple charges after troopers say she struck and killed a man on a bicycle with her car.

The crash happened on Highway 111 in Elroy around 9:15 p.m. Saturday.

Troopers say 59-year-old John Moore was riding his bicycle in the center lane of the highway when he was hit from behind by a car. The Goldsboro man was thrown from his bike and died on the scene.

Lawanda Hall was charged with felony death by vehicle, driving while impaired, reckless driving to endanger, possession of open container/consuming alcohol in passenger area, and a center lane violation.

The 44-year-old Goldsboro woman has since bonded out of jail, according to officials.
