Goldsboro police investigating death after call for welfare check

GOLDSBORO, N.C. (WITN) – A police department in the east is investigating the death of a man officers say they found unresponsive early Monday morning.

The Goldsboro Police Department says officers went to the 500 block of Stonach Avenue for a welfare check.

When they got there, officers say they found 57-year-old Theodis Herring unresponsive.

The police department says officers gave CPR as they waited for EMS.

However, Herring was pronounced dead by EMS at 2:48 a.m., according to officers.

Goldsboro police say foul play is not suspected at this time.

The investigation is ongoing and updates will be shared pending findings from the medical examiner.
