Goldsboro nonprofit leader accused of sex crime with 10-year-old victim

GOLDSBORO, NC (WRAL) – The head of a Goldsboro nonprofit organization is charged with sex crimes involving a 10-year-old boy.

Goldsboro police say they responded to a call around 1:00 p.m. on August 25th and identified Rodney Robinson as a suspect.

The 27-year-old Robinson leads The ROCC Foundation, which according to the nonprofit’s website has a mission to “serve the hungry and homeless population, senior citizens with disabilities, at-risk teens and children, less fortunate neighborhoods and grieving families due to tragic loss.”

Robinson was charged with one count of indecent liberties with a child and he received a $25,000 secured bond.

A family member tells WITN that Robinson and the young victim are related.

Takeisha Brown says Robinson used to be her neighbor, but she didn’t know him well.

“It’s just crazy because he was doing a lot in the community and everything and everybody thought he was this type of other person, but he turned out to be something like that,” Brown said. “… just disgusting.”

Brown said she hopes the victim is okay and that the community needs to be safe. “You never know.”

Robinson’s family issued a statement this morning on his arrest.
