Goldsboro man facing two attempted murder counts in Kinston shooting

KINSTON, N.C. (WITN) – A Goldsboro man is facing two attempted murder counts for a shooting earlier this week in Kinston.

Kinston police, along with Wayne County deputies and SBI agents, arrested Tyghjheri Jones today in Eureka.

He was wanted for Tuesday’s shooting on Viking Drive in Kinston. Police said during the end of a large fight, Jones got a gun from a nearby vehicle and fired several shots into a vehicle with several people inside.

The 20-year-old Jones is charged with two counts of attempted first-degree murder, discharging a firearm into occupied property, going armed to the terror of the public, and discharging a firearm in city limits.

No one was hurt in the shooting.
