GOLDSBORO, N.C. (WITN) – An arrest has been made after a child showed up dead at an Eastern Carolina hospital emergency room.
Umoja Bryant, of Goldsboro, has been charged with first degree murder and two counts of intentional child abuse with serious physical injury.
Goldsboro police said an autopsy showed that the four-year-old girl’s death was caused by multiple blunt force trauma.
Police said the girl was brought Thursday afternoon to UNC Wayne Health Care emergency department.
During their investigation, police said a second victim, a 5-year-old boy, was found with multiple injuries. Both children live at the same home, according to police.
The 32-year-old Bryant was arrested Friday and is being held without bond. Police have not released any information on the relationship, if any, between the suspect and the two victims.
