Georgia fugitive arrested in Lenoir County following standoff

LENOIR COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) – A fugitive from Georgia is behind bars after being caught here in Eastern Carolina.

The Lenoir County Sheriff’s Offices said that Octavious McCord, 33, of Griffin, Georgia, was arrested on Pauls Path Road on Tuesday.

Deputies said that McCord has felony weapons charges from Georgia, and that deputies learned he was hiding at a location on Kurt Drive in La Grange.

During their investigation of the Kurt Drive location they learned that McCord had left with a woman in a car before they arrived.

Their investigation led them to a Pauls Path Road home.

The Lenoir County Special Response Team was called in and a short standoff took place before he was arrested without injury to anyone involved.

McCord is being held in the Lenoir County Jail under two fugitive warrants and without bond.
