LENOIR COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) – Last week, we brought you a devastating story about an Eastern Carolina man who is facing animal cruelty charges.

Following the alleged dog abuse, a Lenoir County man is partnering with the Lenoir County SPCA to help raise money for the dogs’ recovery throughout the month of August.

The viral video that shows who deputies say is Neal beating a dog near a mobile kennel sparked an investigation.

Deputies say he owns a Lenoir County dog training business, called East Carolina Retriever.

According to officials, the 11 dogs are now in protective custody at the Lenoir County SPCA but their recovery still has a long road ahead.

That’s why Brooks Poole has committed to helping raise money to help the SPCA.

“It’s a lot to care for them and we just wanted to bring community awareness to the issue so we just kind of wanted to play on that and help people realize that there’s dogs here. Every day there are 78 of them that have really similar stories. The time frame is 30 days. We’ll match whatever contributions brought to the SPCA,” Poole told WITN.

Poole says along with monetary giving, volunteers are also needed at the SPCA.

There are many ways to give including sending or dropping off a check to the Lenoir County SPCA at 3200 US-258, Kinston, NC 28504, as well as through Cash-App and PayPal at [email protected].
