Free Medicaid enrollment event happening in Greenville today

GREENVILLE, N.C. (WITN) – Those who now qualify for Medicaid under North Carolina’s expanded program can get free expert assistance with enrolling in the program Wednesday afternoon.

Today, from 1 to 5 p.m., Access East Uninsured Programs will host a free Medicaid expansion enrollment event at the Carver Branch Library in Greenville.

Medicaid is a health insurance program for qualifying low-income individuals and families who cannot afford healthcare costs regulated by the state. In North Carolina, the Medicaid Expansion passed in December 2023, raising the original income limit to qualify.

Appointments are available to guarantee being seen, but walk-ins are welcome.

Financial counselors with the ECU Health Central Billing Office will also be on hand to assist with enrollments.

Officials say nearly 450,000 additional North Carolinians have already been able to sign up since the state expanded the program, with roughly 1,000 people now joining daily.

Call (252) 847-3027 to schedule an appointment.
