Four underage kids & one adult charged for shooting in Carteret County

CARTERET COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) – A sheriff’s office says four underage kids and an 18-year-old boy are facing charges for shooting at a home Sunday.

The Carteret County Sheriff’s Office says Jadon Provence, 18, of Newport, and four other minors have been arrested. The sheriff’s office says investigators connected them to the shooting of a Gloucester community house on June 16th.

Officials say the shooting stemmed from a disagreement with another underage child.

Deputies were initially called to the Live Oak Street and Straits Road area just after midnight Sunday. There, officials say they found a house had been shot at with people inside. The sheriff’s office says no one was injured.

Investigators say the five of them are charged with discharging a firearm into an occupied dwelling.

The sheriff’s office says no further information will be released about the minors. WITN is told the investigation is ongoing, and the sheriff’s office expects additional charges.

Provence is in the Carteret County jail under no bond. His first court appearance is scheduled for later this week.
